My name is Andrey, I am a PhD student in MegaMind. Originally, I am from Kazakhstan, but now I live in the vicinity of Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

I started my education off with the Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Power Engineering. I was always excited about physics, mathematics and engineering since these fields sharpen and organize your mind. In particular, in electricity I saw a lot of potential because of the energy transition process and I wanted to be part of it.

After Bachelor’s I decided to dig into artificial intelligence and data science. I assumed these fields can be used to resolve many issues in energy and started a corresponding Master’s program. After it I joined the MegaMind project as a researcher from one of its partners TU/e with the track “Data-driven modelling for distribution network operations”.

Working in this project will help me first of all to connect my knowledge from fields of Electrical engineering and Artificial intelligence and turn it into an impactful and applicable model. I will get acquainted with the Dutch power grid and companies, running or digitalizing it as well as state-of-the-art in deep and reinforcement learning. This knowledge will help me to make distribution networks of the future much more decentralized and intelligent, so that they can handle ever-growing uncertainties at its edges.
